MY sincere condolences to the Blaize family. Papa is gone too soon but he lived a good life. He has a very good heart and welcome us into his family the very first time he set eyes on my Cousin his son in-law Ambrose Alfred. Your legacy lives on and are in safe hands. Rest in peace until we shall see you again in rapture when Christ shall return Amen.

I really love reading these beautiful memories. So sorry your family can’t be together in person for the event. When you lose your parent, it’s like the ground under you caves in. The stability is shaken. I hope the people around you have been able to give you the support until time is able to heal it. I also pray that your heavenly father has caught you in His arms. Weeping may endure for a night but joy cometh in the morning. Love you miss (Lindy), i love your family because each one of them: your dad, mom, sisters, brothers and aunts, even your friends extended their acceptance to me. What a blessing!

May peace be present in the hearts of those you left behind. May joy replace their sadness, may only the love you had replace any fear in their minds. May the goodness you shared continue to ripple through the generations.

I am my fathers daughter
I can stand and roar!
Be braver than I ever feel
Stand on his shoulders and soar
Because I am my fathers daughter
Taking the good,with the bad
The blessings and the battles
The times you made me sad…. mad….glad
I am my father's daughter or Yuh jus’ like yuh father’
people have often said
I am the very best parts of you Daddy
I’ve wished you well
I’ll always be my father's daughter
We will always be his children
We will always be thankful
For the lives we’ve been given.

Let's go fire fighters!
The sound of daddy's distinctive voice rallying us to either leave or enter into a space with his troop following him. Colvin Blaize had a larger than life big personality, a million dollar smile, distinctive laugh and was a master orator. I reflect on a few of things I learnt from our father.
He always taught us to have a sense of who we are in the world -the children of African kings and queens -and to have that sense of confidence to expect the best from ourselves. He encouraged us to pursue academic excellence and would proudly boast to his peers of our achievements.
He taught us to be independent women his phrase was 'i don't want any man making style on allyuh'. So we can change a car tyre, check and change the oil, radiator water and battery. He'd teach us to knew the difference between a Phillip head and flathead screwdriver and all the variety tools from a wheel nut spanner to wrench. We know how to mix cement, fix a broken PVC pipe or minor repairs on appliances. In addition to these life skills he encouraged us to be frugal and financially independent.
He was able to assess a situation and give very good advice.
I remember him giving me academic guidance which I followed which had a defining positive impact on my career.
Daddy also had a great work ethic and in addition to his permanent day job , he found time to give back to society through his dedication in doing adult evening classes for decades.
Daddy loved each of us in his own special way he was playful and showed us much affection which we still joke about today as adults.
He always wanted me to be a doctor. By the time I graduated with my doctorate, he had dementia and was unable to celebrate with me in the traditional way. Though I sense in his knowing he would have understood in his spirit and essence. I was able to achieve another milestone set for me daddy.
Daddy holds an important part in our lives
He was present
He was correcting
He was the advisor
He was the jokester
He was an educator

I remember the times I spent with my Father. Whenever I visited, we would spend hours in the gallery, just chatting. He always had something imformative to share from the knowledge he acquired over the years.
One time he informed me that he told some of his co-workers: "I have a daughter there, 'Lard' she not easy." Referring to my sharp wit to match his and my sense of humour.
I also remember how he would boast about the achievements of my siblings. He would ask me, "anybody told you anything?" I would say "no "; then he would start relating to me of their success in their exams and their other achievements.
Additionally, He would always show that concern whenever time came for me to leave after my visit; especially when he noticed that it was getting dark. I would say to him, "I have no fear" but he would either give me a ride home or arrange for someone to take me back home.
Those are some of the my fond memories that remained with me from our interaction over the years.
Daughter Shirley (Cheryl) Gonzales.

My dad was a man like no other. I can still hear his voice saying “Do you know who I am…..I am Colvin Blaize”. He was born to teach, each and every day he imparted that knowledge. Growing up I would groan inwardly when he was giving me yet another one of his lectures. But now I understand that he was building in me that strong sense of independence and identity. He was also a great problem solver and when I had to make any major decisions, he provided advice and support. For me the best thing about my dad was his unconditional love and protection for me. Whatever challenges in life, my Daddy could fix and he always had a place in his home and his heart for me. Thank you Daddy……I am who I am because of you. I am proud to be the daughter of Colvin Blaize

Condolences to you my dear Dr Lindy Ann Blaize-Alfred on the passing of your dad from whom you certainly inherited your quiet revolutionary disposition displayed at Barataria Anglican Primary School. Condolences to all your relatives especially brilliant-like-you Colvin, Jr whose legal radio interviews I never missed. Your dad has earned his place in our labour annals and may he now enjoy his rest in peace.

Sympathy and condolences to the immediate family of our Uncle Colvin. This is on the behalf of his brother Lewis and Lewis' children:- Marlene, Rezil, Patricia, Cedric, Lindsay, Carol, Sabrina (dec), Sharon, Phillip, and Gizelle(dec). Death is always a time of sadness and reflection. It is a pity almost all of us are abroad and we cannot commiserate with everyone. The last time we saw Uncle Colville is when he gave away Gizzelle in marriage, the last time I met with Colvin jr. was for my divorce application. It is my wish that family must not wait until death. Again on behalf of my siblings, we are sorry and we pray that the Lord will bless his soul.
Cedric A. Toussaint.
