Carol, Darren, please accept my sympathy on the passing of your beloved 'Leslie'. Death really 'stings' when you lose someone so close, a Husband and Father, Our creator, never meant for humans to die but because of the disobedience of our first parents, Adam and Eve we are now all faced with old age, sickness, and death. But is death the end and be all for human life, for your 'Leslie'? The patriarch Job asked, “IF AN able-bodied man dies can he live again?” (Job 14:14) Many today have questions about the dead, 'What happens when we die'? 'Can they live again?' and many more. God, the creator of everything including humans, he well knows what happens to us when we die (Hebrews 3:4) God says in Genesis 3:19 "For dust you are to dust you will return" Ecclesiastes 9:5 "For the living know that they will die, but the dead know nothing at all, nor do they have any more reward, because all memory of them is forgotten." This is comforting to know that your loved one cannot feel or do anything but is in restful sleep, as Jesus referred to death at John 11:11-14 when his friend Lazarus died. We have hope though as God says at Acts 24:15 "There is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous." Isaiah 25:8 "He will swallow up death forever, and the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will wipe away the tears from all faces." May these thoughts comfort you during your time of grief.
